The leader in IGBT and MOSFET driver technology for medium and high voltage inverter applications has introduced an extension to the SCALE-iDriverâ„¢ family of electromagnetically isolated single-channel gate driver ICs. This new device supports IGBTs with a withstand voltage of up to 1700V and is ideal for applications ranging from 400VAC to 690VAC. It also meets the requirements of advanced three-level topological photovoltaic (PV) inverters and solar arrays operating under the new 1500V DC bus standard. The expanded 1700V SCALE-iDriver product line allows OEMs to implement a unified, highly integrated, and reliable drive solution across multiple applications.
This innovative gate driver IC combines Power Integrations’ proprietary FluxLink™ magnetic two-way communication technology with its SCALE® power device driver technology. FluxLink eliminates the need for traditional optocouplers and their associated compensation circuits, improving system reliability while simplifying design. Meanwhile, the SCALE technology integrates all essential gate driver functions into an ASIC, reducing size and enhancing overall performance. The eSOP package offers a creepage distance of over 9.5mm and a CTI (comparative tracking index) of 600, ensuring greater voltage margin and improved system stability.
The 1700V SCALE-iDriver IC operates within a wide temperature range of -40°C to +125°C and supports a maximum switching frequency of 75kHz. It complies with upcoming standards such as IEC60747-17 and VDE0884-17. The device includes Advanced Soft-Shutdown (ASSD), which provides robust and easy-to-implement desaturation (short circuit) protection for power switching devices.

The 1700V SCALE-iDriver IC delivers up to 8A of gate current without external push stages, making it suitable for inverters above 110kW. With an external push stage, it can support up to 30A of gate current and inverters exceeding 400kW. This versatile IC is ideal for industrial drives, power/UPS systems, PV inverters of all sizes, HVAC systems, EV charging stations, traction equipment, and commercial electric vehicles.
