Recently, Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. (NYSE: VSH) introduced a new line of automotive-grade radial aluminum electrolytic capacitors — the 160 RLA series. These capacitors are designed to operate at an impressive +150°C and offer a service life of up to 2000 hours under those conditions. This makes them ideal for high-stability and high-reliability applications in both automotive and industrial environments.

The Vishay BCcomponents 160 RLA series is available in 10 different sizes, ranging from 10mm x 12mm up to 18mm x 35mm. Certified to AEC-Q200 standards, these capacitors feature very low impedance — as low as 23mΩ at 100kHz — and can handle up to 2000mA at +150°C. They are available in capacitance values from 33μF to 3300μF, with voltage ratings between 16V and 50V, making them highly versatile for a wide range of power supply designs.

The 160 RLA series consists of polarized aluminum electrolytic capacitors that use a non-solid electrolyte, self-healing dielectric, and radial leads. These features make them well-suited for smoothing, filtering, and buffering in switching power supplies and DC/DC converters. The capacitors are RoHS-compliant and come in a cylindrical aluminum housing equipped with a pressure relief device. This device is insulated with a blue PET sleeve to prevent accidental charging or discharging, ensuring safe operation even under extreme conditions.

Sample units of the 160 RLA series are now available, and the capacitors are in full-scale production. For large orders, the lead time typically ranges from six to eight weeks, allowing engineers and manufacturers to plan their projects with confidence.
