Vishay's new radial aluminum capacitors for automotive and industrial applications have high operating temperatures and long life

Recently, Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. (NYSE: VSH) has introduced a new line of automotive-grade radial aluminum electrolytic capacitors — the 160 RLA series. These components are designed to operate at an impressive +150°C, with a service life of up to 2000 hours at that temperature. This makes them ideal for demanding applications in the automotive and industrial sectors, where stability and reliability are critical.

The 160 RLA series comes in 10 different sizes, ranging from 10mm x 12mm to 18mm x 35mm. Certified to AEC-Q200 standards, these capacitors offer low impedance — as low as 23mΩ at 100kHz — and can handle currents up to 2000mA at +150°C. They are available in capacitance values from 33μF to 3300μF, with voltage ratings between 16V and 50V.

Designed as polarized aluminum electrolytic capacitors with non-solid electrolyte, the 160 RLA series features self-healing dielectric technology and radial leads. This makes them well-suited for use in switching power supplies, DC/DC converters, and other applications requiring smoothing, filtering, and buffering. The capacitors are RoHS compliant and come in a cylindrical aluminum housing equipped with a pressure relief device. To ensure safety, the housing is wrapped in a blue PET sleeve that insulates against accidental charging or discharging. There's no restriction on peak current, adding to their versatility.

Samples of the 160 RLA series are now available, and the product is in full-scale production. For major orders, the lead time typically ranges from six to eight weeks. With its robust performance and wide range of configurations, the 160 RLA series is set to become a key component in next-generation power systems.
