Ping An Securities Pursues 480 Million Yuan from Jia Yueting or Involves in LeTV's Equity Pledge

On December 12, media outlets reported that Jia Yueting, the former chairman of LeEco, was added to the list of defaulters. The reason behind this move stems from a legal dispute with Ping An Securities, where Jia failed to fulfill his financial obligations as outlined in court rulings. This incident has triggered renewed attention on Jia's ongoing legal and financial troubles. According to recent disclosures, Jia Yueting has been listed as an untrustworthy individual due to violations of the property reporting system and not fulfilling all obligations set forth by effective legal documents. While some reports initially mentioned Huafu Securities, it is Ping An Securities that is directly involved in the case. Jia’s outstanding debts to Ping An Securities include the initial transaction amount, interest, breach-of-contract penalties, notary fees, and legal costs, totaling approximately 4.793 billion yuan. These obligations were determined by a legal document issued under the case number (2017) Xia Lu No. 00082, which was released on December 11. The Beijing No. 3 Intermediate People’s Court is handling the enforcement. The legal documents also reveal that Jia had pledged shares to Ping An Securities in multiple transactions. Notably, in June 2014, he pledged 21.28 million shares through a stock repurchase agreement. Despite several announcements about equity pledges and their releases, there has been no official confirmation that the pledge to Ping An Securities was ever lifted. In addition to Jia Yueting, other entities linked to LeEco, such as LeTV Holdings and LeSports Mobile Intelligence, have also been listed as defaulters. For example, LeTV Holdings faces obligations totaling around 107 million yuan, while LeSports Mobile Intelligence is responsible for over 57 million yuan. This latest development highlights the broader challenges faced by LeEco and its key figures amid financial and legal pressures. As more details emerge, the situation continues to draw public and investor scrutiny.
