TE Connectivity (TE) has recently launched a new line of solderless LED sockets, designed to simplify the installation process for Bridgelux RS LEDs. These RoHS-compliant BR-type sockets allow for quick and easy termination without the need for complex metal-plated printed circuit boards. This innovation not only streamlines the manufacturing process but also gives lighting designers greater flexibility in mounting LEDs using basic hand tools.
The one-piece connector assembly supports solid wires from 18 to 22 AWG, enameled wires from 18 to 20 AWG, and multi-strand wires of 18 AWG. The socket is integrated with a plastic bracket that can be securely fastened to a heat sink using just four M3 or #4 screws. Once in place, the LED is easily secured by pressing the mounting clip, making the entire assembly simple and safe to install in any lighting fixture.
To enhance compatibility, this socket is specifically designed to fit the LEDIL Britney series of optical components. It also provides ample space for custom optical solutions, offering manufacturers more design freedom.
