FCI adds HPCE and HP2 cable assemblies for power solutions

FCI, a leading name in the field of connectors and interconnect systems, has introduced its high-power card edge (HPCE) cable assemblies as a compatible solution for the two-piece HP2 cable assembly. Both products are designed with a low-profile structure to optimize system airflow and enhance thermal performance.

The HPCE cable assembly is engineered with advanced power contacts and a streamlined housing design, making it ideal for space-constrained DC/AC power modules and add-on cards. With a board height of just 2.84 mm, it offers a compact form factor that aligns with other FCI power solutions. The use of cost-effective, highly reliable imprinted power contact technology ensures durability and performance. It supports both high-power (10–14 AWG) and low-power (14–16 AWG) connections, along with integrated signal contacts (22–26 AWG). Modular tools provide flexibility for various power distribution needs, including bus accessories. Its latching mechanism makes it suitable for environments with heavy vibration.

The low profile of the HPCE cable assembly, combined with its high current density and low contact resistance, makes it an excellent choice for next-gen 1U/2U servers, storage enclosures, telecom gear, and data communication/networking equipment.

The HP2 cable assembly shares similarities with the HPCE, but features a two-piece design—plug-to-socket configuration. A variety of right-angle and vertical plugs are available, offering greater flexibility in system design. With a height of 7.5 mm, it maximizes airflow and improves cooling efficiency. Its integrated navigation feature makes it perfect for blind-mating applications. Like the HPCE, the HP2 includes high and low-power contacts for power delivery, as well as signal contacts for control. The number and arrangement of contacts can be customized based on specific power requirements.
