FCI, a leading manufacturer of connectors and interconnect systems, has introduced its high-power card edge (HPCE) cable assemblies as a compatible solution for the two-piece HP2 cable assembly. Both products are designed with a low-profile structure to maximize system airflow and improve thermal management.

The HPCE cable assembly combines innovative power contacts and a compact housing design, making it ideal for demanding DC/AC power modules and add-on card applications. With a board height of just 2.84 mm, it aligns with FCI's other low-profile power solutions. It uses cost-effective and highly reliable imprinted power contact technology. The assembly supports both high-power (10–14 AWG) and low-power (14–16 AWG) contacts, along with integrated signal contacts (22–26 AWG). Modular tools offer flexibility for various power distribution needs, including bus accessories. Its latching mechanism makes it suitable for environments with high vibration.
The HPCE's low profile, high current density, and low contact impedance make it an excellent choice for next-gen 1U/2U servers, storage enclosures, telecom equipment, and data communications/networking gear. Its performance and reliability ensure efficient power delivery in high-density systems.
The HP2 cable assembly shares similarities with the HPCE but features a two-piece design—plug-to-socket configuration. A variety of right-angle and vertical plugs are available, offering greater flexibility for different system architectures. With a lower profile (7.5 mm), it enhances airflow and cooling efficiency. The integrated navigation feature makes it ideal for blind-mating applications. Like the HPCE, the HP2 offers both high- and low-power contacts for power distribution, as well as signal contacts for control. The arrangement and number of contacts can be customized based on specific power requirements.
