GGII: In October, the LED lighting export prosperity index weakened, and the export of more than 3,000 companies declined negatively!

In October, China's LED lighting export prosperity index stood at 51.3, still in the expansion zone but down by 1.2 points from the previous month. This suggests that the overall performance of China's LED lighting exports weakened compared to the prior month. The decline is attributed to several factors, including the scale of exports, fluctuations in exchange rates, trends in packaged device prices, and their combined impact on revenue for companies engaged in LED lighting exports.

Notes: All index values range between 40 and 60, with 50 as the threshold for the prosperity index. When the index is above 50, it indicates an improving economic situation, meaning the sector is in a boom phase. If it's below 50, it signals a downturn or recession. Specifically, 58+ is considered "very prosperous," [58, 53) is "relatively prosperous," [53, 50) is "booming," (50, 47) is "depressed," (47, 42] is "sluggish," and (42, 40) is "very bad."

Second, GGII Analysis

The export scale index declined, leading to weaker overall growth. In October, the total value of China’s LED lighting exports reached $1.379 billion, a 29% drop from the previous month. The export volume was approximately 1 billion units, down 32% from the previous month. The scale index fell by 14 percentage points compared to the prior month.

The exchange rate index fluctuated, which had a positive impact on exports. The US dollar appreciated by 0.9% against the RMB in October, contributing positively to the development of LED lighting exports.

The LED raw material index remained stable, and the price of packaged devices stayed steady. In terms of LED packaging, prices continued to stabilize throughout October. Compared to August and September, the business climate for the LED industry rebounded in October. Although LED chip manufacturers saw improved inventory levels, they remained within normal ranges. Chip prices stayed stable, resulting in relatively consistent LED package pricing. Prices for common LED packaged devices—such as 5630 (25-35), 2835 (10-24), and 3030 (100-120)—remained stable, with no significant changes compared to September.

The enterprise LED lighting export business revenue index dropped, with mainstream enterprises experiencing reduced export volumes. In October, the enterprise LED lighting export business revenue index fell by 7 percentage points from the previous month. Among the top 50 exporting companies, 33 showed varying degrees of decline in their export figures compared to the previous month.
