ZigBee leads the IoT device to move forward

ZigBee is an open wireless network network technology based on the IEEE802.15.4 standard low-power LAN protocol. Unlike traditional star, point-to-point, and mesh networks that use the lowest cost node to provide coverage for all networked devices, ZigBee uses a dynamic, autonomous routing protocol, AODV-based routing technology. In AODV, when a node needs to connect, it will broadcast a route request message, and other nodes look up in the routing table. If there is a route to the destination node, feedback to the source node, the source node picks a reliable one, and the hop count is the smallest. The route, and store information to the local routing table for future needs, if a routing line fails, the node can simply choose another alternative routing line. If the shortest line between the source and destination is blocked due to wall or multipath interference, ZigBee can adaptively find a longer but available routing line. This unique architecture allows ZigBee to be close-range, low-complex, self-organizing, low-power, and high data rate.

wireless technology

Because of the characteristics of ZigBee, it is mainly used in the field of automatic control and remote control, in order to meet the wireless networking and control of small and inexpensive devices, such as wireless sensor networks, in the field of home/commercial automation, smart energy, health In areas such as healthcare and retail, ZigBee has also proven to be a reliable wireless network solution.

When developing 2.4 GHz ZigBee® wireless networking applications, design engineers often face the choice of system partitioning: What is the best level of integration for ZigBee connectivity and network processing solutions? From the perspective of performance, power consumption and cost, which is the most suitable choice – is it better to integrate a 2.4 GHz wireless transceiver and processing core into a single-chip solution for a ZigBee system single-chip (SoC)? Is it better to have a discrete solution with a separate transceiver and main processor?

With the increasing use of ZigBee in the fields of automation control, mobile internet, and smart wearable devices, the industry has an urgent need for low-energy sensors and chips in terms of connectivity and compatibility. In response, the ZigBee Alliance launched the new protocol 920IP, the world's first Internet Protocol 6th Edition (IPv6)-based Mesh Networking solution, which will be used in the future for low power consumption and low cost. Enhance the energy efficiency and interoperability of IoT devices in the grid network of home energy management and related equipment. With the introduction of this agreement, ZigBee's functions in the Internet of Things are gradually improved, and the performance of IoT devices will be greatly improved.
