LG has just officially unveiled its 2018 TV lineup, featuring a wide range of OLED and Super UHD models. The OLED lineup includes five series: W8, G8, E8, C8, and B8, available in 55-inch, 65-inch, and 77-inch sizes. The W8 continues the Wallpaper design, offering a sleek and ultra-thin look that blends seamlessly into any living space.
In the LED category, LG introduced the Super UHD TV line with three series: SK95, SK85, and SK80. These models are designed to deliver high-quality visuals with advanced image processing and enhanced color accuracy.
The OLED TVs come equipped with the new Alpha 9 processor, which brings significant improvements in picture quality. This powerful chip features a four-step noise reduction process, advanced upscaling algorithms, and precise color correction for more vivid and natural images. Additionally, the Alpha 9 supports 120Hz playback, making it ideal for high-frame-rate content like sports and gaming.
Even the entry-level B8 model uses the Alpha 7 processor, ensuring a solid performance across the entire OLED lineup. Meanwhile, the Super UHD models SK95, SK85, and SK80 use the Alpha 7 as well, offering improved black levels, better image rendering, and Nano Cell technology for more accurate color reproduction and a wider viewing angle. The SK95 and SK85 also feature full-array local dimming, enhancing contrast and light control for a more immersive viewing experience.
All OLED and Super UHD models support LG’s 4K Cinema HDR kit, which is compatible with major HDR formats such as Technicolor’s Advanced HDR, Dolby Vision, HDR10, and HLG. This ensures a consistent and high-quality visual experience regardless of the content source.
One notable addition this year is the integration of Google Assistant through LG’s ThinQ AI platform. This new feature allows users to handle voice commands that were previously unsupported by webOS. With ThinQ AI, LG TVs can now control other smart devices from LG that support the platform, such as smart refrigerators, air purifiers, and robotic vacuums. This makes the TV not just a display device, but a central hub for smart home automation.
Whether you're looking for stunning visuals or seamless smart home integration, LG's 2018 TV lineup offers something for everyone. Stay tuned for more updates and reviews on the latest in television technology.
