GIGABYTE rushes to catch up with motherboard makers collectively supporting Lucid Virtu

GIGABYTE to catch up with motherboard makers collectively supporting Lucid Virtu Gigabyte today announced that it has reached a new partnership with LucidLogix and will adopt the Virtu bundled with the latter in its Sandy Bridge 6 series motherboards.

Prior to this, Intel, MSI, and Asustek have embraced Virtu. After Hydra's video card mixing technology passed through a difficult period, the Virtu technology behind Intel's full support was finally brought to fruition, and it was unanimously supported by the major manufacturers of Gigabyte first-line motherboards.

Like MSI and ASUS, Gigabyte's motherboards supporting Virtu technology are also fully Z68-based. The first batch includes four models: Z68X-UD3H-B3, Z68A-D3H-B3, Z68MX-UD2H-B3, and Z68MA-D2H-B3. So far, only Intel’s original support for the H67 motherboard has been similarly supported, and other manufacturers have not yet received such treatment.

The principle and effect of LucidLogix Virtu technology is similar to that of NVIDIA Optimus. It supports intelligent automatic switching between single display and integrated display. The difference is that it is a pure software solution and is aimed at the desktop platform rather than the mobile platform. (There is also news that NVIDIA Optimus also To enter the desktop). Virtu technology currently supports Intel H61, H67, and Z68 motherboards, which can give full play to the power of Sandy Bridge processor integrated graphics and transcoding engine. In the future, it will also support AMD Brazos APU platform.
