90% of domestic computers cannot upgrade IE9

Yesterday, Microsoft released the official version of the next-generation browser IE9 in China. Microsoft said that the new generation of browsers is 11 times faster than IE8, but does not support the XP operating system.

According to reports, Microsoft IE9 only supports Windows Vista and Windows 7 systems. The data from CNZZ shows that the current market share of XP systems in China is close to 90%, which means that nearly 90% of domestic users cannot use Microsoft's new generation of browsers.

Yesterday at the conference, Liang Nianjian, president of Microsoft Greater China, said that when users currently buy PCs in the market, they basically no longer pre-install XP version. According to industry insiders, Microsoft’s move aims to “supervise” users to abandon the Windows XP system and purchase or upgrade to the Windows 7 operating system.

Microsoft officially stated that IE9 does not support Windows XP because its hardware acceleration function does not work properly on Windows XP systems. Windows 7 requires at least 1G of computer memory. In response, Xie Enwei, general manager of Microsoft Greater China Development Tools and Platforms Division, said, "It is recommended that this part of users use IE8."

IE market share is still falling Microsoft executives said, "IE is still the largest browser." But market data show that last year, IE market share fell from 74% to nearly 57%. At the same time, Firefox, Chrome and Safari all have different degrees of growth.

In addition, many Internet companies in China are targeting this market. 360, Sogou, Baidu and other Internet companies have launched browser products. In this regard, Liang Nianjian said, "The domestic mainstream browsers are using the IE kernel, Microsoft does not charge any fees, Microsoft welcomed these companies."

Yesterday, Microsoft stated that IE9 is not only fast, but it also integrates the browser and desktop more closely. Users can create icons on the Windows 7 desktop, which allows them to quickly access websites, check inboxes, control streaming media players, and more. Wei Qing, general manager of Microsoft's China Consumer & Online Business Unit, stated that "in the next 1-2 years, most users will be transferred to the windows7 system."
