India lifts ban on China's telecommunications equipment

According to a report from Reuters on August 19th, Indian Communications Minister Samuel Plot said on the 19th that India has cancelled the ban on the purchase of telecommunications equipment by state-owned telecommunications companies from Chinese companies.

According to reports, the Indian parliament recently questioned whether state-owned telecommunications operator Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (abbreviated as BSNL) is still not allowed to purchase equipment from Chinese suppliers. Sayen Plott gave a written reply saying that according to the telecommunications that India revised last month, Licenses and related regulations, "Now BSNL can sign agreements with foreign suppliers to purchase equipment, software or services."

According to reports, the Indian government revised its telecommunications license and related regulations last month, emphasizing that telecommunications equipment suppliers must allow India to inspect its equipment and stressed that operators in India are responsible for the security of the entire network.

The Indian government previously restricted imports of Chinese telecommunications equipment for security reasons. This decision has caused widespread controversy. Although the Indian government claims that it has not completely banned imports of Chinese telecommunications equipment, Chinese-related companies have said that their relevant orders have not been approved in the past few months.
