Samsung recently announced the acquisition of American medical imaging company NeuroLogica, but did not disclose details of the transaction. NeuroLogica was founded in 2004 and is headquartered in Danworth, Massachusetts. It is famous for tomography technology, and its representative products include BodyTom, the world ’s first portable full-body multi-slice CT scanner.
Tod Pike, senior vice president of Samsung ’s Enterprise Business Unit, said the acquisition of NeuroLogica is another important move for Samsung to expand its medical imaging business. In November last year, Samsung Electronics America, a subsidiary of Samsung, announced the establishment of Samsung Health & Medical Equipment (Samsung Health & Medical Equipment), which merged with employees of the original ultrasound instrument manufacturer Medison (acquired by Samsung in 2010).
Samsung regards the medical technology business as a new growth area and plans to become the world's leading medical equipment manufacturer by 2020.
