China's low-voltage AC motor market will increase by 200% in 2016

IMSResearch predicts that the market size of low-voltage AC motors will reach US$7.9 billion by 2016 in the latest research report on China's low-voltage AC motor market, which will increase by nearly 200% relative to the market size in 2010. The low-voltage AC motor shipments will maintain a double-digit annual growth rate each year. By 2016, shipments will reach 22.6 million units.

North America has been at the forefront of the world in the promotion of high-efficiency motor standards. The ultra-high energy efficiency NEMAP Premium (IE3 Premium) standard has been implemented since the end of 2010. From July 1, 2011, it is required that motor manufacturers must sell motors above the secondary energy efficiency standard. If the enforcement policy is effectively implemented, the threshold of China's low-voltage motor industry will increase, and the entire motor industry will be reshuffled. Many technology levels are not high, and motor manufacturers with weak overall strength will be eliminated. However, in the long run, this mandatory policy will help change the status quo of the Chinese motor industry, which is scattered, chaotic, poor, with low profits and low technological levels. At the same time, the entire industry will use energy-efficient motors to save energy costs and improve energy efficiency. This is also the original intention of encouraging energy-efficient motor policies.

The three-level energy-efficiency motors will still occupy most of the market share of the Chinese motor market in the next three years, and it is expected that by 2013 they will account for more than 60% of the low-voltage AC motor market. IMS Research predicts that the large-scale transition from tertiary energy efficiency to secondary energy efficiency motors will occur in 2014 and 2015. The speed of the transition is very fast, and it is expected that by the end of 2016, secondary energy-efficient motors will occupy about 75% of the market share of low-voltage AC motors (calculated as sales). In addition, China has a natural advantage in rare earth permanent magnet motors, thanks to its own abundant rare earth mineral resources and rare earth production capacity. The Chinese government recently promulgated a rare earth export quota system and introduced incentive policies to support motor manufacturers to develop high value-added permanent magnet motors instead of just exporting raw materials. China is becoming an important global permanent magnet motor production base and consumer market. IMS Research predicts that rare earth permanent magnet motors will grow at a compound annual growth rate of 80% from 2010 to 2016, becoming the type of low voltage motors described in the report. The fastest growing motor type.
