Inverter installation environment and steps - Solutions - Huaqiang Electronic Network

Photocoupler

When installing an inverter, the general steps are similar across models, but some manufacturers may have specific requirements regarding installation procedures and environmental conditions. Below is a detailed guide on the standard installation process for inverters.

Before installation, it's essential to perform insulation tests on both the main circuit and the control circuit of the inverter. This ensures that all components are safe and ready for connection. The first step is to check the insulation of the main circuit, followed by the insulation test for the control circuit.

Next, consider the environmental conditions where the inverter will be installed. Here are the key factors to keep in mind:

(1) Ambient Temperature

The inverter typically operates within a temperature range of -10°C to 40°C, with humidity up to 90% relative humidity. If the ambient temperature exceeds 40°C, the inverter should be derated by 5% for every 1°C increase to maintain optimal performance and longevity.

(2) General Installation Requirements

1) Ensure the location is free from corrosive substances, flammable gases, or liquids. 2) Keep the area dust-free, without floating fibers or metal particles. 3) The foundation and walls should be solid, undamaged, and stable to prevent vibrations. 4) Avoid direct exposure to sunlight, which can cause overheating. 5) Minimize electromagnetic interference from nearby equipment.

(3) Installation Space and Ventilation

Inverters are usually equipped with internal cooling fans to manage heat. For effective ventilation, it's recommended to install the inverter vertically. When multiple inverters are placed in the same enclosure, arranging them side by side helps reduce heat accumulation and improves overall efficiency.

(4) Removing the Inverter Cover

During installation, the cover may need to be removed for testing, inspection, and wiring. Always refer to the manufacturer’s guidelines and ensure you understand the specific features of your model before proceeding.

(5) Wiring Considerations

1) Double-check the wiring connections to avoid errors. 2) Make sure no wire scraps, such as metal shavings or loose nuts, fall into the inverter. 3) Ensure all screws are tightened and wires are secure to prevent loosening during operation. 4) Check that the exposed parts of the terminal wiring do not come into contact with live terminals or the inverter casing.

(6) Control Loop Wiring Precautions

1) Separate the control loop wiring from the main power lines and other power cables to minimize interference. 2) Route the relay contact leads separately from other control signals to prevent signal disruption when contacts open or close. 3) Use shielded cables for the control circuit to protect against noise and other electrical disturbances that could lead to malfunctions.
