Large domestic LCD screens are expected to be produced within five years

As the world's largest color TV manufacturing base, China has always been subject to restrictions on large-scale mass production of large-size LCD panels larger than 46 inches. In response, Wang Dongsheng, deputy of the Beijing Municipal People's Congress and chairman of BOE Group, revealed to reporters that domestic panel makers are constantly breaking the bottleneck. It is expected that large-scale panel production will be realized in the next five years. By then, there will be a shortage of screens and excessive reliance on imports. The phenomenon can be alleviated.

Wang Dongsheng also frankly stated that large-size screens are still relying on imports, and the main bottleneck in production is still that of capacity. Although BOE ranks fifth in the world, it is three times smaller than the fourth. However, BOE proposed the “113” plan, which means that the number of newly added patents and gross profit margin ranked first in the world and reached the third scale.

A downstream color TV company also believes that the domestic mass production of large-size panels still needs time and technology accumulation, and the screens currently used in China still have quality problems. At the same time, some companies believe that part of the current procurement volume has been distributed to domestic companies, and that the development of the upper reaches of the industry requires the support of the entire machine company. Ovid Consulting analyst Jin Xiaofeng expressed his recognition: “The maturation of the industry requires the accumulation of time, but it also requires support from upstream and downstream companies and the confidence of the company.”

However, there are also industry experts raising concerns about the large-scale development of the LCD panel industry in China. Prior to this, some analysts pointed out that if the giants of foreign companies develop a new generation of organic liquid crystal panels, China's hundreds of billions of LCD panel industry will repeat the mistakes of the photovoltaic industry.

In this regard, Wang Dongsheng also seems to be alert, so this time during the Municipal People's Congress, he paid special attention to the issue of corporate innovation. “Now the domestic innovation environment has greatly improved, but there is still a big gap compared with developed countries. I think that now we must encourage not only innovation winners but also losers.
