Foxconn will benefit the most: flat panel shipments will reach 180 million units next year

The English version of the Taiwanese media Digitimes published an article yesterday, saying that the global demand for tablet PCs this year is expected to be 120 million to 130 million. Market watchers believe that this demand will increase to 180 million next year, and Apple's performance will continue to be eye-catching.

The article said that the growth in demand for tablet PCs will benefit Taiwanese OEMs. Foxconn, in particular, will be the biggest beneficiary of this market, while other foundries such as Quanta, Pegatron Technology, Wistron, and Compal will be shipping tablet PCs for next year. It will also grow steadily.

Taking the performance of this year in November as an example, Foxconn monthly revenue reached a record high of 351.733 billion Taiwan dollars (about 12 billion US dollars), which was 27.6% more than the previous month, driven by the Christmas shopping season. Market watchers believe that Foxconn’s revenue in December will continue to grow strongly and that the entire fourth quarter revenue may exceed NT$1 trillion, which is an increase of more than 40% from the previous quarter.

In spite of this, some research institutions believe that Foxconn’s revenue is heavily dependent on Apple, so it should disperse its risks. Earlier there was news that Foxconn had won orders from Amazon and Microsoft.

Quanta is currently Taiwan's second-largest tablet PC OEM, mainly due to the Amazon Kindle Fire and Google Nexus series of product orders. So far this year, Quanta tablet shipments have exceeded 10 million. Market watchers expect that Quanta's tablet shipments this year will reach 13 million 15 million, and next year is expected to increase to 17 million to 20 million.

Heshuo’s joint tablet computer orders are also increasing, mainly due to orders from Microsoft’s Surface tablet and Apple’s iPad Mini. Market watchers expect that Heshuo will reach 10 million tablet PC shipments this year.

Wistron R & D's orders mainly come from RIM, which has recently started OEM Lenovo ThinkPad 2. It is said that Wistron Capital has also won Dell's tablet computer orders. Market watchers expect Wistron to ship 2 million to 2.5 million tablet PCs this year, which is expected to increase by 6 million next year.

Compal's tablet orders mainly come from Lenovo and Acer, and there is news that Compal has access to Amazon's new tablet orders. Market watchers expect that Compal's tablet shipments this year will reach 1 million to 2 million, and it is expected to increase to 6 million to 8 million next year.
