According to a report from ePrice, a local Taiwanese media outlet, the smartphone market in Taiwan saw some exciting developments in September. The iPhone 8 series launched on September 22 and quickly dominated the charts, securing positions 1, 2, 4, and 12 within just a few days.
Apple's long-time competitor, Samsung, also made a strong showing. The Galaxy Note 8 was available for pre-orders starting September 12 and officially launched on the 15th. It managed to take third place in just a couple of weeks and became the top-selling Android device. Other Samsung models like the Galaxy J7 Prime and J7 Pro also performed well in the market.
Alongside established brands such as OPPO, Asus, and Sony, Sharp AQUOS S2 emerged as a surprise hit, climbing to the 13th position in the rankings.
In terms of market share for the month, the top 10 brands in Taiwan were: Apple, Samsung, Asus, OPPO, Sony, HTC, Xiaomi, Sharp, TMW (Taiwan Big Brother), and BENTEN. Interestingly, Nokia's market share has surpassed LG, with only a 0.1% gap between them.
