ITRI ​​’s volley touch technology is composed of a depth camera module with a built-in complementary metal oxide semiconductor sensor (CMOS Sensor), combined with computing software that can calculate the distance between the finger and the image, so it can detect the user ’s finger. Front, back, left and right distance, and through accurate touch time point, to achieve accurate touch response.
At present, the volley touch technology of the Industrial Technology Research Institute can only perform single-finger touch. The touch sensitivity is about ten touch points per second. In addition, the module is still large in size and must be connected to a personal computer (PC). In order to achieve the function of data processing, it can only be used for large-scale machine applications, such as display displays, hospital counters and operating rooms, and cash machine control screen applications.
However, Zheng Zunren emphasized that the Institute of Industrial Technology is expected to complete the volley touch technology that meets the requirements of smart TVs within 2 years. At that time, the depth camera module will be able to be greatly reduced from the diameter of 15 cm used by today's large-scale machines to below 10 cm The measurement range can also be extended from the finger to the entire human body.
In addition, when the volley touch technology is used in applications such as smart glasses and other mobile devices, the depth camera module will integrate another processor, so the size is expected to be further reduced.
