Jiangmen, which accounts for a quarter of the province's output, has officially become the LED industrialization base in Guangdong Province and has made progress to the green lighting demonstration city in Guangdong Province. Yesterday, the Provincial Science and Technology Department awarded the plaque of “Guangdong LED Industrialization Base†to Jiangmen. At the same time, it signed a framework cooperation agreement with the Jiangmen Municipal Government to jointly build a “Guangdong Province Green Lighting Demonstration Cityâ€. Li Xinghua, director of the Provincial Science and Technology Department, and Liu Hai, Wu Zizhen and Yi Zhongqiang, the city leaders, attended the signing ceremony.
The LED industry in Jiangmen started earlier. At present, a complete industrial chain has been formed. There are over one hundred LED production and application enterprises, and more than one thousand related enterprises. Last year, the output value of LED industry in our city accounted for about 1/4 of the total amount of the province. Development has laid a good foundation. Li Xinghua pointed out that this is the reason why Jiangmen can become the provincial LED industrialization base.
The framework agreement signed yesterday also pointed out that Jiangmen should be built into a green lighting demonstration city in Guangdong Province, and further strive to become a national-level semiconductor lighting application demonstration city; to achieve 2012, the city's semiconductor lighting and related industries will have an annual output value of about 15 billion yuan.
Liu Hai, deputy secretary of the municipal party committee and acting mayor, regarded the acquisition of the honor of the base as a start. He said: "Becoming a provincial LED industrialization base is not a result, but a beginning. It is not only an honor but also a responsibility. â€
As for the next step, Liu Hai said that the city will accelerate the development of the LED industry by guiding and regulating industrial development, strengthening basic research and development, and expanding the application of LED products. Specifically, efforts will be made in policy, standardization, trading markets, demonstration projects, talent and capital platforms. Among them, the policy will improve support policies, reduce the preferential threshold for packaging applications in the middle and lower reaches, and establish a package application technology innovation support fund to encourage research on key technologies. In terms of market transactions, it is planned to construct an international LED trading center in Lianhai North Road (near the Outer Sea Bridge) in Jianghai District.
