Labsphere's LMS-3M integrating sphere, measuring 3 meters in diameter, is used to measure the optical properties of larger light sources or illuminators. Compliant with the LM-79 and LM-80 specifications, the integrating sphere is capable of accurate, repeatable measurement of any source, streamlined luminaire up to 2 meters in diameter and illuminator up to 30cm in diameter.

The 3 meter light source measuring the integrating sphere accommodates the light source with the base up, the base down or longitudinally positioned, which can conveniently and effectively measure any type of light source; and can also measure the forward or partial flux of the light source already assembled or mounted on the heat sink. .
Larger integrating spheres provide better integration of light and more reliable testing of the luminosity and chromaticity of the device. The units of measurement are: total spectral flux, luminous flux, CCT, CRI, and chromaticity. The measurement data depends only on the effective power of the test equipment, not the size, shape or spectral distribution.
The Spectraflect ® inner coating of the integrating sphere has near-Lambertian properties that allow for better diffusion and integration of light and reduce hot spots, which is better than other coating materials in the integrating sphere. Spectraflect has a reflectance value of 98%, and in the visible spectrum, a flatter spectrum can be seen for low lumen sources.
The LMS-3M can measure a variety of light sources and illuminators by making minor adjustments on the same system. The standard sphere geometry can be used for 4pi measurements with an optional aperture reduction device that can be easily configured for 2pi measurements. There are baffle input and output ports, and an ambient air temperature controller maintains and monitors the temperature inside the measurement environment, following Energy Star requirements. The new integrating sphere fully integrates all of Lanfi's optical photometric and spectral emission systems and software, so current users can easily upgrade.
