Canalys announced on Thursday that shipments of Huawei smartphones increased 81% year-on-year in the third quarter ended September 30, marking the company's first major smartphone maker in China.

Data for the third quarter suggests that Xiaomi may be losing momentum in the Chinese market. Analysts said that Xiaomi still relies mainly on the domestic market to achieve growth, and the slowdown in the Chinese market may make its outlook uncertain.
Jessie Ding, an analyst at Canalys' Shanghai office, said that Xiaomi's growth rate in key local markets has declined, which puts its target of 80 million global shipments in 2015 under pressure.
Wang Yang, research director of IHS Technology China, said that in the third quarter, Xiaomi's total shipments of smart phones were 18.5 million units, a decline from the second quarter. Huawei's smartphone shipments in the third quarter were 27.4 million units, which was also down from the second quarter, but (the internal sales volume has increased by 4% (refer to the previous data, it should be around 20.8 million units).
According to previously reported data, Xiaomi's overall sales in the first three quarters were 34.7 million + 18.5 million = 53.2 million units.
