Famous Chinese architect - Shen Liyuan

Shen Liyuan (1890 ~ ​​1951)
Mr. Shen Liyuan was born in Zhejiang on July 11, 1890. He was admitted to the Italian University of Napoli in 1909 to study civil engineering and water conservancy projects. After returning to China in 1915, he became an engineer of the Yellow River Conservancy Commission; soon, he turned to construction engineering design work. In the early days, he cooperated with Others in Beijing to design a front door outside the camp and cinema. Since then, he has established the Huaxin Engineering Department in Tianjin and is engaged in the architect business in the Beijing-Tianjin area.
From 1928 to 1934, he served as professor of architecture at the National Academy of Art of Peking University. From 1938 to 1951, he served as professor of the Department of Architectural Engineering at the National Peking University School of Engineering and director and professor of the Tianjin Institute of Business and the Department of Architecture of Jinji University. In college teaching, in addition to teaching tasks in architectural design classes, he also teaches students the history of Western architecture.
After 1949, he served as the chief engineer of the Ministry of Textile Industry and the chief engineer of the Tianjin Construction Committee.
His main design works include Hangzhou Zhejiang Industrial Bank, Tsinghua University Gymnasium Expansion Project, Tsinghua University Electrical Hall, Machinery Hall, Aviation Laboratory and Teaching House, Peking University Beach Library, Tianjin Zhejiang Industrial Bank, Tianjin Salt Bank, Tianjin Xinhua Trust bank. In addition, he has designed many commercial buildings and private residences.
Mr. Shen Liyuan died in Beijing on November 21, 1951.
